Join Red Brick Center for the Arts and artist Lara Whitley for an intimate artist talk and hands-on activity how to find source for creative endeavors. Focusing on where ideas and materials come from, Lara will lead a conversation on her materials-first approach to artmaking, foraging practices, and research. She will take participants through an exercise to conjure intuition, a tool she uses regularly in the studio and in life. No experience necessary.
Bio: Lara Whitley creates contemplative spaces in nature using glass she forages in the mountains. As an Artistic Fellow of the Aspen Art Museum, she is underway on two forest projects, including “Written in the Trees" and "Earthly Palace" at the Aspen Space Station, which will return in 2022. "The most talked-about locals' art show of the year wasn't in any gallery at all," said The Aspen Times. Aspen Sojourner magazine dubbed her "A sculptor to watch." Lara's work "Homecoming" won the People’s Choice Award at the 2019 Art of the State, Colorado’s triennial juried show. Lara lives with her family in Aspen.
