The Red Brick Center for the Arts is pleased to present an exhibition of works by two artists who have participated in the Sister Cities’ Arts and Culture Exchange Program. Local artist Deborah Jones visited Argentina in the fall of 2022, and we are pleased to welcome Bariloche artist Soledad Escudero who will visit the Roaring Fork Valley during the fall of 2023.
Aspen Sister Cities is a nonprofit organization that supports the Sister Cities international mission of “promoting peace through mutual respect, understanding and cooperation- one individual, one community at a time.” The Arts and Culture Exchange Program with Bariloche, Argentina started in 2014, fostering learning, inspiration and long-lasting friendships. The purpose is to share and appreciate the work of our local artists as an expression of our cultures, to exchange ideas and expand artistic opportunities.
The Sister Cities of Aspen and Bariloche share stunning landscapes that often greatly influence artists and become a subject for their work. This is so with artists Soledad and Deborah; however, the form of expression takes its own unique shape in each artist’s creation. Soledad performs in search of spiritual and physical connection with nature through scents, textures, and sound becoming one. Deborah’s mixed media artworks explore her relationship with nature, memory, and wonder.
