Michael Bonds is a ceramic artist and graphic designer living and working in Aspen, Colorado. Michael’s passion for art is growing, changing and continually evolving with his personal growth. Moving to the Roaring Fork Valley in 1985, he has worked in the advertising design field for over 37 years. Once the computer came on the graphic design scene, he branched out into ceramic arts to keep his hands and mind creative, and has been throwing pottery for the last 23 years.

Michael’s expressive style is evident in his unique raku vases. His work involves a process of experimenting with different techniques to produce one of a kind pieces of art. Michael’s Raku work has been purchased by collectors throughout the country.

Sgraffito is another favorite technique he uses to draw on the clay and scratches back  to create designs that reflect his passion for the outdoors. Bold colors with black and white designs of Mountains, Skiers, Animals, and Aspen Leaves are among the designs Michael incorporates in the tableware he creates.

Michael has degrees in Graphic Design, Fine Art and Art Education and has attended many pottery workshops to learn different types of throwing and glazing styles. He exhibits these ceramic creations in Fine Arts Festivals in the Rocky Mountains. Michael is currently the art director of his own graphic design company, Studio MB, located in Aspen, CO. He enjoys biking, skiing, art, and photography and continues to be inspired by the outdoors.
